Tranquil Homestay in Chikmagalur, Karnataka!

Nested in the picturesque western ghats and about 4.5 hour drive away from Bangalore, Chikmagalur is the perfect weekend getaway! We stayed at the Thippanahalli homestay (here) for a night. It is a 200 year old heritage property located amidst hills and coffee plantations offering guests stunning views and a serene environment. I booked the accommodation by directly contacting the property. It was pretty easy and hassle free. You can choose between a room inside the heritage bungalow or have an entire cottage to yourself. We opted to stay in the cottage as it offers more privacy and has a nice view of the hills. I suggest you make your reservations well ahead of your travel as this place is always in demand and gets filled up real quick!

I fell in love with the place right from entering the property. And our cottage was a dream!! The cottages are very spacious, clean and beautifully decorated. We spent most of our afternoon just relaxing and enjoying the view from our cottage!

It was a perfect evening with hot cup of coffee and best view! Chikmangalur is known for it's best kind of coffee and you must definitely try it in one of the plantations! The next morning we were taken on a guided walk around the coffee plantation by one of the members of the owner's family. He was friendly, explained us the whole process of coffee making and answered our questions. After the tour, we headed for breakfast and had only few hours left until check out. The 1-night stay in cottage costed 3500 INR per person. I felt it was really worth as the price includes all meals, a guided plantation walk and taxes. I really enjoyed this short but relaxing break at Thippanahalli homestay! If you want to spend your weekend in a quiet place, go ahead and make your booking now!
